Biofiltration Modeling and Applications: Evaluating Gas-Phase Biofilter Performance in Treating VOCs from Industrial Emissions Book uri icon

abstract

  • Stringent emission regulations as well as the corporate awareness pertaining to the environmental and health hazards of volatile organic compounds have driven industries to responsibly contain or control their VOC emissions. To a large extent, biological processes have been proven as a feasible technology for VOC control due to their cost effectiveness comparing to traditional physicochemical processes. This book deals with the modeling, design and application of vapor-phase biofiltration for the treatment of VOCs, particularly recalcitrant compounds such as chlorinated hydrocarbons. Biofiltration as a part of a combined treatment train is also described in the book.
