Choices for Growth: Quality of Life and the Natural Environment Institutional Repository Document uri icon

abstract

  • As our towns and cities grow, we have choices to make about our natural areas, our historic heritage, our mobility, our sense of community, and even our health and safety. The loss of natural areas and the beneficial effect they have on a city's environment can be a serious consequence of uncontrolled growth. This publication can help citizens plan for fair and thoughtful growth. It includes discussions about the importance of preserving water quality, preserving natural areas, planning for compact growth, and controlling stormwater runoff. It also lists the many resources available to citizens and city planners who are dealing with these issues.
