abstract
It is well know that axially shearing a non-circular cylinder of a non-linearly elastic solid produces secondary deformation (cf. Fosdick and Kao [9]). Thus far, the problem has been studied using the driving force as a perturbation parameter, keeping the domain fixed, which leads to the appearance of the secondary deformation at fourth order. Here, we perturb the domain, holding the driving force fixed, and find that the secondary deformation shows up at first order. 1992.
