abstract
We study the propagation of waves in homogeneous isotropic and transversely isotropic elastic solids infused with fluids, within the context of the Theory of Mixtures. We show that our theory reduces to that proposed by Biot, when appropriate assumptions are made. We analyze the propagation of transverse plane waves, longitudinal waves and spherical waves in both isotropic and transversely isotropic elastic solids infused with a fluid. 1992.
