Modeling of electrorheological materials

Electrorheological materials can be modeled in a variety of ways. Here, we shall discuss modeling them in a homogenized sense as a continuum (See Atkin and Bullogh, Rajagopal and Wineman , Wineman and Rajagopal, Rajagopal, Yalamanchili and Wineman). Early studies were restricted to one-dimensional models (Conrad, Jordan, Shaw and McLeish). Also, the early studies treated the electrical field as a parameter rather than as a variable that is to be solved for. Recently, Rajagopal and Ruzicka developed a three dimensional theory wherein the full set of field are used that includes Maxwell's equation. Here, we shall discuss a redacted version of this study.
