abstract
This paper presents an analysis of the nonlinear viscoelastic behavior of unaged and aged asphalt binders tested using a Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR) at several temperatures and frequencies. The DSR measurements were converted to the time domain and a master curve at a reference temperature of 30C was formed using the time-temperature superposition principle (TTSP). Data analysis was conducted to determine nonlinear stress dependent parameters (g 1g 2), a stress-time shift factor (a s) and an aging-time shift factor (a g). The nonlinear viscoelastic model was implemented in the finite element (FE) software ABAQUS to simulate the unaged and aged experimental data. The FE model was found to predict the unaged and aged experimental data very well. 2007 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
