abstract
2014 IEEE. Standing wave striations at frequencies below 400 kHz are observed in DC H2 microplasma discharges at pressures up to 7.8 atm. Striations are observable in low-current (1-5 mA) discharges, with a passively stabilized external circuit. Striation spacing ranges from 17 to 34 ) m, with higher pressure and lower current producing smaller spacing. These striations indicate the continued applicability of Knudsen (Kn) number-based scaling laws over several orders of magnitude in pressure.
