abstract
Cool Storage Systems (CSS) are becoming a popular demand side management tool for utilities because they help them avoid costly plant expansions and reduce summer-time peak electricity demand. This paper describes the cool storage system at a multi-purpose municipal facility which is owned and operated by a municipal utility. The paper presents measured performance results of the cool storage system taken over a two year period. The paper describes the problems encountered, remedial actions taken and actions recommended to improve the performance of the cool storage system.
