abstract
The Schwartz-Christoffel transformation is used to find the two-dimensional steady-state temperature distributions around uninsulated slab-on-grade and rectangular basement geometries. The distribution of the heat flux is also determined. Superposition is used to investigate the behavior of adjacent slabs at different temperatures, such as a house and attached garage and the influence of a fixed-temperature water table below a basement is examined. Temperature and flux distributions are shown for several cases.
