abstract
This paper describes the application of automotive sensors to electronic control of the internal-combustion engine, with emphasis on sensor-signal characteristics and utilization. Manifold absolute pressure, crankshaft position, throttle position, temperature, and exhaust-gas recirculation are among the parameters monitored to electronically regular engine inputs. The control concepts realized with each of these sensors are discussed.
