abstract
Presentation of the theory and application of two finite element models of Navier-Stokes equations for two-dimensional incompressible fluid flow. The first model is based on the primitive equations and involves the velocity and pressure variables. The second model is based on the penalty method (with the incompressibility condition as an equality constraint) and involves only the velocity field. An alternate pressure-velocity formulation is also described.
