ON THE FORCED MOTIONS OF ANTISYMMETRIC CROSS-PLY LAMINATED PLATES Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • Analytical solutions of the classical, first-order and third-order laminate plate theories are used to study the transient response of antisymmetric cross-ply simply supported rectangular plates. The solutions bring out the influence of the transverse shear deformation, the degree of anisotropy and the number of layers on the transient response. The study concludes that shear deformation theories accurately predict the behavior of the composite laminates, while the classical theory underestimates the transverse deflection. 1989.
