abstract
The effect of cyclic AMP on the immunologic system has been widely explored, especially in the context of its effect on the lymphocyte itself, the fundamental cell of immunologic function in man. That cyclic AMP is involved in the response of the lymphocyte to challenges such as mitogens, antigens, and hormones has received considerable experimental support. (2,47). Many questions remain, including very fundamental ones; i. e., how the lymphocyte works, what goes wrong in lymphocytes of those developing proliferative disorders, and why doesnt the lymphocyte respond when the malignant challenge appears from outside the immunologie system?
