News Exposure and Information Processing in a Post-Broadcast Media Environment Chapter uri icon

abstract

  • AbstractThis concluding chapter describes the empirical, theoretical, and methodological contributions made in this book. This chapter also discusses the normative implications for ongoing debates about lingering and systematic digital information inequities, how information communication technology can help or hinder an informed citizenry, and practical consequences for journalists and news consumers in a mobile world. We situate our findings, framework, and theory in the history of the literature on media effects before we conclude with a discussion about how our framework and theory are applicable to other changing communication technologies and how they might be usefully applied in future political communication research.
