abstract
In using the Sun as a navigation reference body, we can obtain autonomous (self-contained) spacecraft navigation anywhere that the Sun is the dominant visible body. The use of solar radial velocity knowledge is included in Extended Kalman Filter and Gaussian Least Square Differential Correction implementations and in both rectangular coordinate and orbital element representations. These estimation methods were used to evaluate the sensitivity of spacecraft navigation to the measurement accuracy. An improvement in spacecraft state knowledge resulting from solar radial velocity measurement was demonstrated.
