abstract
Memories are remarkably persistent, but rely on transient signaling. The prion-like properties of CPEB suggested a solution to this problem. The paper by Krttner etal. (2012) in this issue of Neuron demonstrates that the prion-like domain of Drosophila CPEB functions independently of its RNA-binding domain for memory.
