abstract
A new inicromechanics-based yield criterion is developed for anisotropic porous metals incorporating the effects of void shape and plastic anisotropy of the material on the constitutive response. Example yield loci are presented for material properties representative of C.P. grade Ti, and shown to be in good agreement with more accurate yield data determined numerically. Potential benefits of using the new criterion in finite element simulations of hot-working operations on Ti-based components are discussed.
