abstract
2014 IEEE. A control strategy for a new Power Factor Correction (PFC) rectifier which has double-line frequency ripple decoupling capability is presented and verified by simulation results. Based on the commonly-used Boost PFC regulator, a non-cascading ripple-port on the DC-side is added to eliminate the double-line frequency ripple. Hence, the output capacitance required is significantly reduced and high reliability film capacitors can be used to replace the bulky, low reliability electrolytic ones. Both the ripple-port and the PFC stage have closed-loop control and a feed-forward control guarantees the ripple cancellation under various load conditions. The proposed rectifier achieves faster transient response to load dynamics.
