Integration of inspection methodologies in a manufacturing curriculum Academic Article

abstract

• The Manufacturing and Mechanical engineering Technology (MMET) program at Texas A&M University has integrated modern testing technologies and procedures into their manufacturing and mechanical based curriculum. The revised course, ENTC 402: Inspection Methods and Procedures, is included in the fall 2004 course offerings of the University. The revised course utilizes three existing laboratory taught courses in the MMET program with the aim to gather test technologies into a focused elective. Some of the lecture topics for the initial offering of ENTC 402 include introduction to testing, liquid penetrant testing, single degree of freedom vibration theory, acoustic emission testing and ultrasonics.
