The present invention relates to an ultra thin light scanning apparatus for a portable information device, which provides an image with high contrast and enhanced resolution, forming the image by taking a LED as a light source and totally reflecting the light on a surface of an object. The present invention comprises: a light emitting diode that emits light for detecting a subject; the surface of the object, the light emitted from the light emitting diode reaching the surface of the object and totally reflected therefrom; an image forming unit that focuses and delivers the totally reflected light from the surface of the object; and a light receiving unit that forms the image using the light delivered from the image forming unit.
