High efficiency circuit in pulse discharge processing
Exemplary active circuits are disclosed that use a high voltage rectified DC power supply to discharge a capacitor (internal or external) across a two electrode gap to produce a spark discharge for hydrocarbon conversion (or treatment of other mixtures), optimized to minimize energy waste by operating in a constant current, near constant current, or constant power mode. The circuit may operate on standard power lines (e.g., single or multiple phase at 120VAC or 240VAC 60 Hz). The disclosed method can be extended to any number of discharge gaps while maintaining similar pulse characteristics and electrical efficiency.
