abstract

  • Following a background to the conflict in South Sudan and the post-conflict context, this chapter examines the agricultural extension system in the country, highlighting the different extension providers and actors with varied roles and operational statuses. Various agricultural extension projects and activities to improve food security in the country are then examined. The chapter concludes by outlining lessons learned from South Sudan that may have larger importance for other post-conflict countries. These lessons relate to safety and security as well as agricultural training for extension providers and farmers.
