abstract
We have developed a micro electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) system and utilized it for analyzing highly-metastatic and poorly-metastatic head and neck cancer (HNC) cell lines. The device is composed of 16 arrays of impedance analysis sites, with each site capable of capturing a single cell and analyzing its electrical impedance spectrum. Electrical impedance measurements on the highly-metastatic HNC cell line 686LN-M4e and the poorly-metastatic HNC cell line 686LN were conducted over a frequency range of 40 Hz to 10 MHz. The phase part of the impedance spectrums from the 686LN-M4e and 686LN cells showed clear difference. This result indicates that the EIS system can be used to distinguish the metastatic status of HNC cell lines.2009 IEEE.
