abstract
While significant research exists on the relationship between internationalization and performance, much of this research is focused on advanced nations. There is a need to explore the same research questions in emerging markets. This study has examined this relationship from a sample of firms based in an emerging economy (Turkey). Both linear and non-linear relationships effects of internationalization on firm performance were examined. Contrary to the majority of studies, our results show that there is no significant relationship between internationalization and performance. Implications, limitations and managerial relevance of our findings are discussed.
