Knoxville Gang Update. Class of 2016. Institutional Repository Document uri icon

abstract

  • This technical report is based on the work of students who took Dr. Durns spring semester of 2016 gang course. This is the first and only participatory action research project conducted in Knoxville, Tennessee. Students focused on several themes including history of gangs in Knoxville, patterns of race, ethnicity, gender, and age, and responses to street gangs. Although Durns time in Knoxville was short (4 years), there is much more work to be done in the South and Appalachia region. The student responses were edited by Durn, Campos, and Nelson.
