abstract
Administration of two antioxidants butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), ethoxyquin (EQ), and DL-Methionine (Met) with the diet for 7 days protected mice from the acute toxicity of hymenoxon, a poisonous sesquiterpene lactone isolated from a sheep poisoning plant Hymenoxys odorata DC. (bitterweed). The oral administration of BHA also protected the sheep from acute bitterweed poisoning.
