abstract
A direct model reference adaptive control based on a reduced-order model for a large space structure is obtained. The hyperstability theory is used for stability analysis. This approach provides greater flexibility in choosing adaptive laws and avoids the shortcomings of Lyapunov's method. For improving the sensor and actuator noncollocated problem, the almost strict positive realness condition is established. The design and test of an adaptive controller are discussed
