abstract
This article is a transatlantic study aimed at finding an aesthetical/ethical relation between Hispano-American, European and Hispano-African literatures. It is a particular and unique study that focuses on three important writers of the world literature: Franz Kafka (Europe), Gabriel Garca Mrquez (Latin America) and Mara Nsue Angue (Africa). Apart from the biographical and narratological interests shared by the three writers, we perceive in their respective works a common preoccupation about the concept of existentialism and the destiny of human being in the world. This article presents and analyzes the way in which each writer elaborates the problematic of the subjectivity of the human being according to their own socio-cultural environment. It also presents how Nsue Angue and Garca Mrquez use the phenomenon of "absence/presence" to separate or differentiate themselves from Kafka and create a new style of writing. What is absent in El Proceso of Kafka is made present and (sub) inverted by Nsue Angue and Garca Mrquez (in their novels) in order to come to the same conclusion: human life is full of tragedies.
