abstract

• This paper examines the operating procedures of the Federal Reserve System over the last decade using VAR models. From April 1975 to September 1979, we check to see whether or not the Fed was using a federal funds operating procedure. We examine the time period from October 1979 to September 1982 to see if the Fed was using a nonborrowed or borrowed reserve operating procedure. The final period from October 1982 to October 1985 is examined to determine whether or not the Fed was using a borrowed reserve operating procedure. 1988.
