abstract

  • Current research at all levels of schooling emphasizes the importance of effective reading comprehension skills as well as the challenges instructors face in teaching it.. In 2007, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) awarded The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) a grant as part of an effort to develop online Professional Development modules. The purpose of our project was to create 14 online instructional modules designed to provide college-level faculty untrained in reading comprehension, with effective strategies to improve reading comprehension skills in entry-level college courses across disciplines. The modules were designed with maximizing interaction and providing take aways for participants.
