abstract
A detailed analysis of intensities of CO stretching vibrational modes in bis(triphenylphosphine)iminium hydridotetracarbonylferrate suggests the HFe(CO)4-to exist in tetrahydrofuran solution in the precise form as in the solid state, i.e., as a pseudo trigonal bipyramid with H in an axial position. Considerable deviation of (OC)ax-Fe-(CO)eq angularity from 90 is observed both in the solid-state structure (99.1) and in these solution studies (100). Carbon-13 labeled CO incorporation into PPN+HFe(CO)4-was catalyzed by Na+ ion-paired interaction and used to obtain precise frequency data for an accompanying force field calculation. 1978, American Chemical Society.
