abstract
A remarkably simple arylboronic acid reagent for derivatization of diols enables the determination of the optical purity of diols by 1H NMR spectroscopy by the formation of the corresponding esters 1. This procedure could be particularly valuable as enantioselective bishydroxylations become more widely used for asymmetric syntheses. (Figure Presented.)
