abstract
The influence of ac Stark shifts on the sensitivity of optical magnetometers was analytically studied. These shifts caused a broadening of the relevant resonances and gave rise to additional noise contributions. In absorption-type magnetometers, the ac Stark-associated broadening and power broadening led to a reduction of the signal. The classical part of the effects was completely compensated in an electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) magnetometer in Faraday configuration.
