abstract
The resonant enhancement of high-order optical nonlinearities based on atomic coherence was analyzed. The proposition was based on the existence of coherent population trapping (CPT) in multilevel media and resembled Kerr nonlinearity enhancement. The enhancement was accompanied by suppression of the other linear and nonlinear susceptibility terms. Results showed that (5) nonlinearity may be so high that three-photon phase gates become feasible.
