abstract
In a simple exchange reaction zirconacycle 1 is converted into the new heterocycles 2 and 3 by treatment with ArGaCl2 and ArInBr2, respectively. Gallacyclopentadiene 2 is monomeric and its fivemembered ring is planar. The cyclopentadiene ring and the aryl ring are nearly orthogonal owing to steric interactions.
