The reaction of indium(I) bromide with ,-alkanediylbis(bromomercury) complexes (alkane = butane, pentane, and hexane) resulted in formation of the corresponding ,-alkanediylbis(dibromoindium) compounds, which, were isolated as THF adducts. The THF molecules of the complexes are easily displaced by bromide anions, thus affording the corresponding ,-alkanediylbis(tribromoindate) dianions.
