abstract
We show that the U(1) gauged Einstein-Maxwell supergravity in six dimensions, spontaneously compactifies on Minkowski S2, with a monopole-valued Maxwell field on S2. The bosomic symmetry of the background is SU(2) U(1). The field equations fix the monopole charge to be 1. The consequence of this is that the N = 2 supersymmetry breaks down to N = 1, and chiral fermions emerge. 1984.
