abstract
We couple d = 8, N = 1 supergravity to n vector multiplets. The 2n scalars of the theory parametrize the Khler manifold SO(n, 2)/SO(n)SO(2). The n+2 vector fields are used to gauge the [SO(1, 2)H] subgroup of SO(n, 2) where H SO(n-1) and dim H = n-1. It is shown that the theory compactifies to (Minkowski)6S2 by a monopole configuration which is embedded in SO(1, 2). The field equations fix the monopole charge to be 1, which implies a stable, chiral N = 2 supergravity in d = 6. 1985.
