  • © 2019 Author(s). Measurements of the water absorption coefficient at a laser wavelength of 1064 nm are reported as a function of water temperature. A low power laser beam was used as the probe. The measurement net procedure took into consideration the absorption of the cuvette, while it included detection of bubble formation on the walls of the measurement cuvette and in the water volume. The measurements indicate that the absorption coefficient of water slightly increases in the range of temperatures below 40 °C, reaches maximum and then significantly decreases in the range of temperatures 40 °C - 70 °C. The significant decrease of the temperature dependence of the absorption coefficient supports the supposition that a high transparency of water can be achieved.
