High strain-rate scratch testing of nanoscale materials Conference Paper

abstract

• The use of micro- and nano-scratch testing enables a dynamic range of testing that could span more than eight orders of magnitude in strain rate, from 10-3-105 sec-1. The mechanical responses of nanocrystalline and nanolaminate materials are investigated as subjected to high strainrate loading conditions using micro- and nano-scratch test methods.
