abstract
2019 Elsevier B.V. This work demonstrates the development of a novel control scheme for small-scale chromatographic systems, using the integrated outlet concentrations as tracked outputs. The controller is designed based on the principles of multi-parametric programming, following the previously presented PAROC framework. For the control problem formulation, we consider variations in the feed stream as measured disturbances and we assess the behavior of the control in an in-silico, closed-loop validation against the process model. The presented control scheme is successfully tested under: (1) steady process operation and (2) the occurrence of unmeasured disturbances resulting from noisy feedback measurements.
