abstract
2019 IEEE. In this paper, a bandpass miniaturized frequency selective surface made up of wire grid and loop element is employed for sensing. With a material under test between periodic arrays of wire grid and loop elements, the sensing capability of this structure to detect air, ethanol, and methanol in X band is demonstrated through numerical simulation. The structure can sense and variations as small as 0.4 and 0.55, respectively. Moreover, the maximum detectable and are 21.2 and 16.1, respectively.
