MULTIFUNCTION IRRIGATION SYSTEM FOR PRECISE WATER AND CHEMICAL APPLICATION. Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • The development of a multifunction irrigation system was initiated for the purpose of applying both water and chemicals simultaneously from the same basic moving pipe and tower structure with the maximum application precision possible for both. Application of water conserving chemicals such as antitranspirants, growth regulators, and soil evaporation suppressants was a primary objective as well as precise placement of all agricultural chemicals currently in use. Testing has revealed a 2-fold improvement in chemical deposition and uniformity over conventional chemigation and a 4-fold improvement over aerial application.
