abstract
A new analytical solution is presented for rate performance of a well intercepting a bounded two-layer reservoir. The analytical solution is for modeling two-layer reservoirs with or without crossflow, with each layer having different layer skins and different layer drainage radii. We present the rate behavior of partially completed wells in layered reservoirs and the effects of different layer skins and layer drainage radii on the rate behavior in layered reservoirs. Using an automatic history matching approach, we analyzed simulated and field production data with the new reservoir model.
