abstract
OSA 2014. We present axial plane optical microscopy (APOM) that enables wide-field imaging of samples along an axial plane perpendicular to the focal plane of the microscope's objective lens. APOM utilizes optical remote focusing with a tilted mirror to achieve aberration-free axial imaging with no scanning units. We predict APOM's theoretical resolution and experimentally demonstrate APOM images of biological samples: fluorescent pollen grains and mouse brain slides.
