abstract
Design and delivery of safe and effective anti-glaucoma agents to the eye is a challenging task. It requires a multi-disciplinary approach where one should consider various factors including anatomical, physiological, and metabolic considerations of the eye as well as physico-chemical properties of drugs as abasis for rational drug design. This article summarizes two chemical approaches-site-specific chemical delivery systems and soft drugs-to design effective, selective, and safe novel agents to the eye for the treatment of glaucoma. A brief review of anti-glaucoma drugs and their dosage forms and drug delivery systems is alos presented. 1994.
