abstract
[This article is an analysis of the morbidity and mortality disparities between African Americans and whites. African Americans live sicker and die younger than any other race/ethnic group in America. African Americans reap fewer benefits from increases in medical knowledge than all other race/ethnic groups and arguments still rage over the causes of ill health within the African American community. Our paper ends with a discussion about why these disparities between African Americans and whites in the area of health continues to exist.]
