Pressure buildup behavior of partially completed wells in layered reservoirs Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • 1989, Society of Petroleum Engineers, Inc. This paper presents a study of pressure buildup behavior of partially completed wells intercepting layered reservoirs. We present correlations for estimating skin due to partial penetration for homogeneous and layered systems with contrasting layer permeabilities. We demonstrate the correct procedure for analyzing buildup tests from partially completed wells using conventional type curve analysis methods. Using an automatic history matching approach, we present a field example application of the analytical model and the developed correlations.
