We present correlations for estimating skin due to partial penetration for homogeneous and layered systems with contrasting layer permeabilities. We demonstrate the correct procedure for analyzing buildup tests from partially completed wells using conventional type curve analysis methods. Using an automatic history matching approach, we present a field example application of the analytical model and the developed correlations.
