abstract
2018 IEEE. Analysis of the laminar flame propagation in the methane-air mixture seeded by sodium with microwave energy coupling to the flame front was presented. Calculation results showed that a flame suppression effect caused by sodium could be reduced by the microwave discharge, but an increase in the sodium concentration up to 0.5% leads to overheating of combustion products and flame extinguishment. Thermal effect of the microwave discharge influence on the laminar flame speed prevails, but additional slight increase in a flame speed is caused by the formation of excited oxygen species.
