In this chapter, the basics of process simulation with ProMax (BR&E, 2017) will be demonstrated through a step-by-step guide in modeling a simple n-octane production case. The concept of simulation is based on a sequential modular approach and follows the onion model for flowsheet synthesis (see Chapter 1 for details).
